The Challenge
DiMella Shaffer, a nationally recognized architecture and design firm located in Boston, MA, was looking for a way to store and maintain their digital image collection of blueprints, architectural sketches and completed projects. They also needed a way to search these images via keywords or descriptions. This functionality needed to be accessible via their LAN, but also needed to be available via a web browser over their virtual private network.
The Alternative Systems Solution
Alternative Systems quickly created an application to hold an unlimited amount of image records. Each image record offers a preview of the image, keywords, descriptions, project types and the ability for the user to download the image. The image is protected via a complex set of passwords and privileges. To create the web portion of the application, without dramatically altering the project's limited budget, we deployed a combination of custom web pages and instant web publishing - a unique FileMaker Pro feature.
